The Oriel Alumni Weekend will take place on 15th and 16th September 2017. The weekend coincides with the University of Oxford Alumni Weekend so there is plenty to see and do for you and your guests. This year’s celebrations will be themed around music at Oriel, specifically the Oriel Choir.
6.30pm – Choral Evensong
(This will be a ‘scratch’ service sung by current and former members of Oriel Choir and led by former Organ Scholars).
7.15pm – Oriel Society AGM in the Small SCR, finishing by 7.25pm
7.15pm – Pre-dinner drinks
7.45pm – Dinner in Hall (dress code: black tie), finishing with after dinner drinks.
Booking is required and there will be a limited number of Young Alumni Tickets available at a reduced rate for those Orielenses who matriculated in 2002 or after; please note that guests of young alumni must pay the normal price unless they also matriculated at Oriel in 2002 or after).
12.00 noon – 12.45pm – Talks and display in the Senior Library
‘Fellowes, Oriel and the English Musical Renaissance’ – Dr David Maw, Associate Professor of Music and Director of Music at Oriel
‘Purcell at Oriel; Lord Leigh’s Manuscripts’ – Mark Purcell (1989), Deputy Director, Research Collections, Cambridge University Library
1.00pm – 2.30pm – Lunch in the Champneys Room
A number of single rooms will be available in College on Friday and Saturday night.
NB. There will also be a Gaudy on Saturday evening for matriculation years 1999-2001 (by invitation).
