Whilst you may be geographically distant from Oriel, you will always be a valued member of the Oriel Community. Orielenses are a vital part of the College and Oriel is committed to keeping all its former students in touch with one another and with the College.
Orielenses are welcome to drop in and visit the College when in Oxford – please note this should be before 5pm. Some buildings are not accessible without a key so if you would like someone to give you a tour and allow you to revisit places like Hall, the Library, or the Chapel, the Development Office is happy to help.
If you would just like to walk around the quads please make yourself known to the Porter. Don’t forget to bring your alumni card, or something to prove you are an Orielensis! Please note that visits after 5pm will not be possible.
For access to locked buildings please email firstname.lastname@example.org a couple of weeks before your visit so we can arrange things for you.
There may be times when access to the College is not possible. Access is therefore at the absolute discretion of the Porters. Alumni wanting to visit the College at these times will be given the reason why access is not permitted.
Events give you the opportunity to catch up with contemporaries or network with other generations of Orielenses in different venues.
The Development Office hosts a number of events for alumni throughout the year. To browse a list of upcoming events and find out how to book, please view our events page. Events are also advertised at the back of the Oriel News Magazine.
Subject to availability, the Domestic Bursarial Assistant can book a room for you to stay in Oriel. Rooms cannot be booked more than 10 days in advance, as students’ needs must come first.
Please contact Hannah Simons on 01865 276547 or email: email@example.com.
Past and present members of the Oriel community are welcome to inquire about the possibility of having their wedding service in the Chapel. Depending on the Chaplain’s schedule and other events taking place in College, the Chapel is available during most of the year for this purpose, with the exception of the late summer and Christmas season. There are a number of legal formalities to address before any firm arrangements can be made for the wedding itself. It is advisable to start the planning process between nine and twelve months in advance of the proposed date of the service.
For further information, please contact the Chaplain at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you would like to hire one of our function rooms for a private event, such as a dinner, please contact the Conference Office for more information:
