To coincide with the Canonisation of Bl. John Henry Newman, Oriel will be hosting events in Rome on the 12th and 13th October 2019 for Orielenses and their guests.
11am: Tour of the Venerable English College
The entrance to the College itself can be quite difficult to find, so the tour will start outside the Bridgettine Convent in the Piazza Farnese, which is a 1-minute walk from the Venerable English College.
The address of the convent is: Bridgettine Convent, Piazza Farnese, 96, 00186 Roma RM, Italy
The Venerable English College: Via di Monserrato, 45, 00186 Roma RM, Italy
Orielenses are invited to a guided tour of The Venerable English College.
Founded by Orielensis Cardinal William Allen in 1579, the Venerable English College prepares men for Catholic priesthood.
The seminary was founded as a place for preparing priests to serve on the “English Mission”, following the Reformation of the mid 16th century, but there has been an English presence on via di Monserrato since 1362, when the site was acquired by a confraternity of Englishmen living at Rome. The English Hospice, as it came to be known, offered a welcome to generations of pilgrims.
12:30pm: Lunch at Trattoria Polese (booking required).
10am: The Canonisation Mass of Bl. John Henry Newman
Tickets for the canonisation itself can be booked by clicking the link below. Please note, that registering only secures your ticket. You must collect your ticket in Rome in the days before the Canonisation Mass.

Venue: Grand Hotel de La Minerve, Piazza della Minerva, 69, 00186 Roma RM, Italy
